Byggmester Hofstad is a general contractor at Tiller, just outside Trondheim. They coordinate carpenters, tilers, masons and painters within the same project, and sell it to the client as a single delivery.
Vegard Årnes is the estimator and technical manager. Quotes above a certain size go through him before they are sent.
It is a role where a mistake does not stop with you. Price the quantities too low and the project eats the margin. Price them too high and you lose the job to someone who calculated tighter. Previously the hours went into measuring, taking notes and calculating.

Vegard started using the tool at the end of March 2026. In mid-April he called to say how it was going.
He estimates that he saves at least 30 per cent of his time on every project, and believes the real figure is higher.
That time does not go into more of the same. It goes into judgement, coordination and quality assurance — the part of the job that actually needs the master builder.
